Mrs. Walter Steglich of the Pecan community in Bell County fills one of the pockets of a down comforter. After being taught how to make comforters by Extension Agent Tina Stewart, Mrs. Steglich made two comforters for herself and three others which she sold. In addition, she planned to make one for each of her three daughters. Filling the eleven pockets with three pounds of down obtained from her flock of over thirty geese took Mrs. Steglich half an hour with the aid of a vacuum sweeper.

Alline Stouts of Harrison County shows some of the clothes she made as a result of her involvement in 4-H Club activities, a course in tailoring from a sewing machine company, and homemaking classes at Marshall High School. When Alline participated in a one-day apprenticeship program sponsored by the Marshall Business and Professional Women's Club, she was apprenticed to Harrison County Home Demonstration Agent Margaret Bracher and assisted her in sewing demonstrations. As a result of this experience, Alline joined the Gill 4-H Club.
