14. The Explorers' Reports



The accounts of the explorers themselves were much valued by the Crown and the Council of the Indies, and they were often printed in various languages and widely distributed all over Europe. In fact, these accounts became the choice for many readers, not only for officials with political or economic stakes in the New World.

La Corona y el Consejo de las Indias valoraban mucho las relaciones de los exploradores; muchas se imprimieron en diferentes lenguas y se distribuyeron por toda Europa. De hecho, estas relaciones se convirtieron en la lectura favorita de mucha gente y no sólo de aquéllos que tenían intereses económicos y políticos en el Nuevo Mundo.
