The "Bread Route" crossing the river

Here the watermills, using the water of the river Lavagna, ground the wheat; the flour sacks were then carried, still on mules, to Quinto (birthplace of Christopher's father) and then to Genoa. So the ancestors of the great discoverer were peasants. It is possible that they originally came from Piacenza, along the "bread route."
