Sugar cane was transplanted from the Canary Islands to the Caribbean. Christopher Columbus himself brought sugar cane on his second voyage to Hispañola in 1493.
La caña de azúcar fue transplantada de las Islas Canarias al Caribe. El propio Cristóbal Colón trajo caña de azúcar en su segundo viaje a la Hispanola en 1493.
