Dendê Oil and other Africa-influenced Foods
The dendê palm, native to west Africa, was introduced to Brazil during the time of slavery. Its fruit is eaten boiled or raw, and the palm oil is used in cooking and in medicine.
La palma del dendê, que es originaria del oeste de Africa, fue traída al Brasil durante la época de la esclavitud. Su fruta se como hervida o cruda. El aceite de palma se usa ara cocinar y como medicina.
