4. The Source of Slaves



Most slaves were taken to the New World from western and central Africa. Although documents may mention "slaves of Angola," they could have come from anywhere in the west. From the point of capture, they were marched to holding stations on the coast, such as Goree Island's house of slaves, whose exit led to the slave ship.

La mayoría de los esclavos fueron traídos al Nuevo Mundo tanto del Oeste de Africa como de la parte central. Aunque ciertos documentos mencionan a Angola, los esclavos pudieron haber venido de cualquier parte del oeste.
