War Hammer

War hammers were used by knights as auxiliary weapons after plate armor made the sword almost useless. The hammer head could deliver a stunning blow to the helmet, and the beak could penetrate the chinks between plates or pierce through lighter plates. Leaders of mounted troops often carried it as a badge of rank.
