When the Aztec nation had conquered its enemies in Mexico, Tlacaélel advised the Emperor (grandfather of the last Emperor Montezuma) to collect and destroy all histories so that a new, more glorious history could be written. This is one of only four or five Aztec codices to survive the conquest.
