In 1205 A.D. Saint Dominic, founder of the Dominican Order of Preaching Friars, was sent to Languedoc (now part of France) to convert people to the orthodox faith. Traveling among the Albigensian heretics, he preached, taught, organized disputations, and supervised the burning of heretical books.
