In terms of geography, the scope of the war was immense. Weeks of travel separated both capitals, Washington, D.C. and Mexico City, from the battlefront along the Rio Grande. Stretching from the Gulf Coast on the east to the Pacific Coast on the west, the theatre of operations covered almost a million square miles of territory, all belonging to Mexico. |
