THE KING'S GOLDEN THRONE
Photograph by Harry Burton, The Metropolitan Museum of Art
Carved of wood and overlaid with gold from top to bottom, this beautiful chair is one of the greatest artistic treasures found in the tomb. Its legs, fashioned in feline form, are surmounted by lions' heads. Crowned and winged serpents form the arms, and between the bars which support the back there are six protective cobras.
