Many Ice Age images suggest that they were made for use in rituals to insure good hunting, human and animal fertility, seasonable weather, and favor with supernatural powers. While scholars cannot say for certain what any sign means, modern research techniques reveal that many of the images have been used repeatedly and some paintings have undergone change over a long period of time.
