Kneeling Archer

Despite their staggering numbers, these figures were not stamped from molds but individually modeled. Each body was built up from coils of coarse gray clay, with a hollow torso and solid legs. Details of the face and armor were applied while the clay was still pliant. This kneeling archer was uncovered with arrowheads, traces of wooden bows, and fragments of swords and scabbards alongside.
