While scholars are still debating the details of the production of early bronze vessels, most now agree that the pieces were cast from several molded sections designed to fit around a clay core. Molten bronze was then poured between the core and the mold sections. When the resulting bronze piece cooled, the mold was removed, and the casting seams were polished away.
