Throughout much of the Greek world, people were buried simply, with only a few personal ornaments or offerings. In Macedonia, however, the nobles were surrounded in death with their richest possessions, including armor, jewelry, metal vases, and lavish equipment for the symposium (or drinking party), since the after-life was envisioned as a heroic feast.
